hellp,

I was surfing ebay, and came across some star moss, it looked great so I ordered a couple of batches. I tougth it would look great in a 20 gal along that houses some java fern and a couple of amazon swords. when it arrived it looks to me like its not an aquarium plant at all. does anyone have any experience with this plant at all? thanks

It isn't an aquarium plant, It will last a little while but will eventually die.

As above this is not a true aquatic.

The seller is not misleading people though as this is a moss that people will use in short term aquascapes such as a scape created for competition or photoshoots etc where it can be left in and will still look good after a month or so.

Equally many people may keep it growing on some moist (marsh conditions) peat or compost and put the moss into the scape a few days/weeks before the competition/photoshoot.

If you want it to survive then get yourself a shallow tray and some compost or peat and keep it moist at all time then just keep the moss on top and it will grow. You can then use it if you ever veer down the route of competitions etc and most probably sell some along the way as it is grows (slowly)
