Hi All

Have just built my new stand and put it in situe, however the left hand side is ever so slightly lower and needs propping up slightly. I have had a cracked tank before so am a little paranoid.

What can I use to safely prop it up bearing in mnd the weight involved? Its a 125l tank

Thanks
Aaron

You can relevel it by using something like a sheet of polystyrene that is trimmed down so that it's a wedge going the entire length of the tank - i.e. it has to cover the entire base of the tank...

My tank is one of the Juwel ones that sits in a base and specifically says not to use polystyrene.

I have been to B&Q and have some big washers to sit under the feet of the stand. Will this be ok?

What about those little wooden shims that you get at a hardware store? We use those with our 120g, they work pretty well and only cost 2-3 bucks.

I would try to use something that will go the length of the tank or the width if you are only proping up one side.Big washers may work but you will be safer if you use something that will spread the weight over as large a surface area as possible -_-

I would sand the top of the stand until it's perfectly level. If that is too much sanding, then remove the top and trim accordingly, and re-attach top.

if you bulit the stand yourself, chances are you still have some extra wood?? If so use a piece of that wood as a "support" on one side that way it's stirdy and will be leveled :D

Hi All

I have added some washers to the feet of the stand on the left hand side to lift it up. It only took 2 on each foot, and they are only 1/16 " each, so 1/8th of an each in total. Will this be ok?

It also leans backwards slightly. Only a little though

The stand is very very stirdy and perfectly level, its the floor that is out

Also... will the Juwel base on the tank not compensate slightly anyhow?

Try cardboard.
Use those empty cardboard boxes and cut them to size.
It's flexible, will absorb shock, and easy to adjust by adding
or removing layers. Cost $0.00, just need time and effort.

I have used 2 steel washers under each foot, but I think I might change these for cardboard, I am a bit worried about the washers damaging the plastic feet, because they are fractionally smaller than the feet and I don't want them to push through the feet or something. Am I just being paranoid?

Will have to drain the tank and do it all again :(

Im constantly checking it. I even get up in the night sometimes! The issue here is the several thousand pounds it would cost to replace all the flooring in the apartment if it went, all very expensive laminate flooring.

Just make sure that your house insurance covers you for any 'mishaps'

I have seen really unlevel Juwel tanks. From what I have read a 1/4 inch difference in water level at the top is within tolerance, if yours is over that then I would empty that tank and get something done.
