I recently saw a rather large squirrelfish for sale, it had been rescued from a tank which it had outgrown.
I got a good deal on it because they knew I had a decent size tank.
The fish is about six inches or so, a nice red, with orange/yellow fins.
It was advertised as a duckbill squirrelfish, confirmed when looking at the shape of the mouth!
I have since discovered it is Sargocentrum spiniferum, also known as the GIANT squirrelfish!
Thankfully in this case giant doesn't mean metres, it grows to a maximum of about 18 inches.
It was quite shy initially, but is getting used to things now and is feeding well, even with reasonably bright light.
