just wondering if anyone else keeps mainly SPS corals. what system do you have and do you frag any of them?

what IS a frag? I'm just curious...

a frag is short for fragment. basicaly, corals can reproduce a-sexually. this is known as fraging. a piece of coral can be cut away from the main colony and attached to a small piece of rock. this coral will then grow onto the rock and eventually grow into a colony like the one it was taken from. this can be done with hard and soft corals. In nature, this happens when storms snap pieces of coral of and they fall down into the rock work.

I do a bit of fragging.

175watt? thats a strange rating. I take it you are in the USA? here they go up in 150, 250, 400,1000.

I have about 12 acros, 1 hydnophora, 1 porites. and a few lps such as dohmnuts etc. mines a single 150 watt light. how do you keep your calcium up? I'v had to build a calcium reactor for mine because it kept crashing.

I drip lime water to keep up my calcium.

What size tank do you have?

I have a 5'x15x18" - 60 gallon
with a 36x15x12 sump - 35 gallon
I shall be adding a 40 gallon frag tank soon.
so about 100 gallon with rock displacement.
I have about 30 kG of live rock
deltec ap600 skimmer
deltec rowaphos reactor
fish include:

1 large yellow tang
1 pistol and shrimp goby
1 bleeding heart anthias, soon to become a shoal
1 fuzzy dwarf lion
1 golden ring bristle tooth tang.

I also drip kalkwasser in overnight. helps balance the ph and soon I will have a calcium reactor.
