I was in my local shop that I get all my fish from and I seen some really nice Knight Goby

On doing some research I have come across 2 different views, some say they can dealw ith freshwater, others say brackish

These Goby's have been kept and sold by this shop for a while with what they say a good success rate of them being freshwater, although they can be brackish too, but these are sold as freshwater as thats the life they had before they got them, and thats the life they give them in the shop aswell as sell them as this.

So, before I thought about it, and although it was hard to walk away as they are lovely looking fish, I am after info from what it would be like from both sides.

Can someone give me more info on these please as im reading conflicting info

thankyou

it is a brackish fish but prefers fresh water and if its been bred and kept in fresh water it will be fine it does require a high pH though 7.2-7.8 is recomended

Last test I have done are between 7.5 - 8 so seems that it would be ok

what are they like aggression wise? Its just I have a couple of fish that arent aggressive unless provoked, and the last thing I would want is it to decide it wasnt to pick on my fish, and end up getting hurt, at the moment the Angels rule the tank, they dont start fights, but tend to finish them!

I'd check out Neale Monks posts or wait for his response but in my experience they were far happier in brackish

if you can provide for them get them as they are great fish to keep and very attractive fish as well

they can be quite aggressive but only if there not given enough space

If you mean provide as in give them a sort of brackish conditions, then I cant do that...Both my tanks are freshwater and i dont intend to go down the brackish route, if I were to even start going that way then it would be straight onto marine, which is my future dream, but at the moment I am only wanting to stay with tropical

I do like the look of them, they are nice looking fish, but I would only get them if they are happy in freshwater...And then I hope they can get on with my fish, but the only fish I can see it arguing with is my lairy gourami! He tries to be the big man at times till the angels put him in his place
