So I have 5 adult sparkling gouramis in a species tank. It's a 10 gallon heavily planted tank. I just painted the back of the aqurium and cleaned out the filter. After cleaning the filter and painting the tank my sparking gouramis have gone into hiding. I have a small semi clearing in the tank where I place the food. They used to always come right out when I sat in front of the tank. It's been two days and I haven't seen them eat or really have seen them at all. I see small glimpses between the plants. Any suggestions on why they are hiding now?

Probably just annoyance/stress from the maintenance. The only other thing that occurs to me is something in the water...if you used conditioner and this was no different than before, likely not an issue. With plants, ammonia from cleaning the filter is not going to be an issue, so no worries there.
