Sparkling Gourami Compatibility

I am very keen on getting a pair of sparkling gouramis for my 20 gallon. Problem is, I've read an account of someone who had a trio of sparklers who massacred his guppies. Well, I have 5 guppies (2 Males, 3 females) and I dont want them attacked! But then when I go to professionals or check compatibility charts, it says that sparklers are fine with guppies. Is it a personality thing? Here's my stock:

6 Neon Tetras
5 Guppies
2 Otos
8 Cherry Shrimp

mine are fine with all of those fish! well i guess my shrimp are ghost shrimp so they are bigger but i wouldn't worry about that. a little advice for the sparkling gouramis would be keep a ton of plants as they are timid and use them for shelter but once they get used to your tank they will come out of hiding more and more but will still linger around their plant homes. really cool fish and can show great colors!

+1, lots of plants, i have a flame dwarf gourami and he darts around the tank now

cool! awesome, can't wait to get some. Plus, I just got some baby amazon swords and my tiger lotuss' are sprouting, soon it will be more plants than water
