I would like to breed something a bit different (than the normal livebearers I have) and was thinking about maybe some sparkling gouramis. I am hopefully getting a 200L tank soon which I have changed my mind about what fish to have about 20 times and would like to keep some sparkling gouramis to hopefully breed.

Can someone suggest the perfect temp, ph, ect. For these fish to breed. Also what food to give them and is there any plants they might like?

I do want it at the same time to be a community tank and will be moving over 2 Albino Bristlenose that will hopefully breed 2 corys and a zebra loach, to add I will be buying some more corys and zebra loaches.

Can you also reccommend some fish I was thinking maybe some Neons or Cardinals, some Lemon tetras maybe rams. Was also thinking honey gouramis if there ok. :/

Also How many sparkling gouramis should I get for a 200l tank and is there anyway to sex them in the fish shop? (So they might be young) :/

Didn't think it would be this long! Lol!

But any help would be appreciated. :)
Thanks, Panda_Cory. :good:

If you read this link then come and ask questions after, that would be a great, other than that some one will come on and help http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/gourami/sparkling.php

Ok just read that but still have some questions.

Do any of the species I have mention ok with them?
Can anyone suggest anymore species?
How many sparkling gouramis should I get for a tank this size?
Any other plants they will enjoy other than floating ones?
Would It be ok to take out fry or do they need to stay in?

The easiest way to do it would be to buy six sparkling gouramis then when two show the signs of breeding stick 'em in a breeding tank and let nature do it's thing. Tankmates-wise, a peaceful shoaling fish would be worth looking into, just to make them feel at home, but nothing that will outcompete them for food, like zebra danios. The breeding tank will also need floating plants, if sparkling gouramis are bubblenesters, cause most gouramis are. Also, corydoras pygmaeus or something like corydoras aeneus, that would be nice. Plants, I just got a great deal, Indian Waterweed [Hygrophila Polysperma] on eBay, 30 INDIVIDUAL plants for £8.85 :hyper: but be careful some places in America it's a noxious weed, and is illegal. For floating plants I recommend Salvinia. If you could get some Echinodorus Tenellus, then that would be good.
