I have a 17L tank with 25W heater and small light and filter. Is there anything i could put in it that wouldn't be "overstocked, unhappy" etc..

Any ideas? any pics of any similar tanks?

If i were to use it as a quarantine/hospital tank does it need to be constantly filtered and heated or can i just cycle the media and leave it all in but not powered up?

what is a betta, and what is a WCMM? (heard that abv in a "what to do with my spare SEVEN gallon")

Would a few neon tetras be too much?

betta is the siamese fighting fish-Tropical
WCMM is a white cloud mountain minnow-coldwater

cant keep neons in a tank that size, a betta is siamses fighter fish- male. and wcmm is white cloud mountain minnows, you could have about 6 of these or the male betta, personally i would have a betta, its up to you

would 1 male betta be happy in such a small tank? What kind of tank decoration would you recomend with a betta (substrate? plants?rocks?)

Can anyone answer the question about a hospital tank? do i need the filter and heater running during the time that there are no fish in it (which i hope will be 24/7/365 but you never know)

the betta is happy in a tank that size, just get gravel or sand(up to you) have a few live plants, and maybe some rocks or wood,

not sure on the hospital tank but the filter would need a supply of ammonia to keep the bacteria living, not sure if you can use it without a filter and just doing water changes everyday.

The betta should be fine in there, can have gravel/sand and some silk plants, as long as there are no sharp parts he will be fine.

for the hospital tank, run the filter for it in an existing tank(if you have one) that has fish in it, then move it over when the fish is ill

How about ghost shrimp...
put 2 pregnant females in and watch them breed...

and for plants how about a ball of ricca...

I'd vote for a shrimp tank :D You could get some ghosts and breed them and feed them to your other fish :D Or just enjoy watching them.. whatever heh.
Bettas are great as well. Very cute fish w/ tons of personality. And contrary to what a lot of people say, NOT lazy fish at all.
