Yeah, while glancing at my tank all of an hour ago, I noticed a small fish dart between the opening beneath my driftwood. The single explanation, is that one of my 5 females had fry! I have no idea when, or how many, but I know that there is indeed 1 remaining.

However, I don't actually know how big this little guy is, or how long it's going to take him to get big enough to survive- Which is what I'd like to know. Assuming this guy was born sometime within the last week (He's about 8-10mm), about how long should it take for him to be 'okay'? All my females are still fairly young and small, being no longer than an inch, if that helps any.

But yeah, that's my question. The whole experience is actually much more exciting than I would have guessed :p

Wish the itty-bitty platy luck :D

Sometimes they are safe right from birth, other times it may be 2 months to 5 months after birth, it all depends on the other fish :D

Fry's are fast slick little suckers i have mine in there own tank without any of the adults but they hide.wich is weird to me.

Yeah ... Trust me, I'd get it out if I could, but it's not going to work. I have enough trouble netting my platys as is, let alone one that's 1/3 their size and capable of hiding under a giant piece of wood >_>

Basically, we're going to keep an eye out for the little one and see how long it sticks around. Between nibbling on some live plants and algae, do you suppose it'll be okay for food? There's no way it's getting top fed.

Well, I just watched it be chased by the others again ... Oie. Daring ones, they are.
