Well had an very odd problem.

After 1 day most of the eggs were nice and beige so i was sure that they had been fertilized, i left for work the next day where about 20-40 had turn a bright white colour which i thought was odd.

Anyway, came home from work and nearly all of the eggs were white, thought oh well not fertilized but why would they have gone beige first then white, that isnt right?

Anyway, next day i got up for work and no eggs left, all gone and no babies, suspect parents eat them.

Now what im wondering is, was it a fungus attack or were the eggs just not fertilized? and if it is the prior, how do i get around that as i dont fancy dropping meth blue in as it will kill my filter.

Congrats I always found it harder it keep the fry alive I hope you have better luck then me. Enjoy.

Fungus is nearly always secondary to bacteria when the survival of eggs is concerned. You can see the white fungal problem, may people this this is the primary problem.

Solve the bacterial problem, and fungus doesn't occur. First place to start is having as clean of water as possible, the bacteria affecting the eggs is in the water. Large frequent water changes, 50% daily if possible.

Acidic water has antibacterial properties, angels originate from acidic water. This is the reason you will find people who breed angels in alkaline water often pull the spawns; you can add antibacterials to the hatching tank. This is also why adding antifungals to prevent fungus on eggs often doesn't work. In cases where it does work the antifungals also have some antibacterial properties.

I would start with clean water, and work from there. Beyond that there are many things that can be tried, depending on the circumstances.

Hrmm...

Well my water isn't too bad out of the tap, its been pretty easy to modify it for my discus who love it and i have a peice of bogwood in their tank keeping the PH around 6 or so.

I find the point about acidic water having antibac properties intrigueing, i may drop a peice into their tank today and see how that affects their next spawn as they are already (re)cleaning their spawning site from last time.

When the angels first spawned for me they were being held in QT at a friends LFS and they ate the eggs there also and he has perfect water..

Could it be that they will just always eat their spawns or will they grow/learn out of it Tolak?

They might always eat their spawns, it might take them a few tries before they get it right. Angels can sometimes be bad parents, it has to do with all the inbreeding. Didn't ask me the question but I thought I'd be nice and answer anyways.

Exactly, TY! Some never parent raise, some do so from the beginning.

Well came home last night and the angels were at it again, the bogwood went in a few days prior so dont know what the PH is at yet however this morning and 3 eggs already turned white and growing fungus, the rest are definitely beige though...

Blargle lol..

1 day later all gone... blah.. but again a large amount of the eggs were white and fluffy after being beige.. going to start a breeding journal and get some pictures up on it in the next day or two as the female is already fat with eggs again
