So, I left for Alberta last Saturday and I came back today and found out that, when my neighboor was dog-sitting my dog (I look after his dog when he goes away, too), somebody had taken Ginger! Apparently, he had both the dogs tied up outside and was watching them very closely. He's currently fixing up his house, so he got distracting for less then 5 minutes. Ginger was tied up on a 20 foot rope, which was tied to one of those big metal screws that go into the ground. He went to check on her (all he had to do was look out his window) and she was gone, along with the leash AND the stake that goes into the ground. Somebody had taken her, because she wouldn't of been able to pull the screw out of the ground by herself. His friend was working on the house with him and they set off in their vehicles and were looking all over, not missing one street, and asking everybody they passed if they had seen somebody with a shepard/shelty dog on a long leash walking by. My poor neighboor was really upset. He was so angry at whoever had done it. So he went back to his house to see if she had shown up, and my Nana (who lives a couple blocks away) walks into his yard and she has Ginger! Ginger had shown up at her house! She said poor Ginger was really upset and was whimpering and freaking out. We still don't know what happened, but we know for sure that somebody had taken her. The strange thing is, Ginger and Cinder (the other dog) would have barked, so they must have known whoever it was. We think that they had taken Ginger down by the road from my Nana's and then decided to let her go, and Ginger ran to my Nana's house because it was the closes and she knows where my Nana lives as she is always visiting there (with us). I'm paranoid now and I won't let Ginger out on her leash without me being outside, its horrible that somebody would of taken her. We live right by an Elementry school that I used to go to (going to highschool now) and lots of people walk through there. My neighboor lives right at the corner, people walk right by his yard to get to the main street. I was shocked when he told my family this, but I'm glad Ginger is safe.
Living close to a school comes with its perks...Speaking from experience i know that a group of young guys can get into some pretty hairy situations. I've never stolen a pet and think its over the line, but it's not unimaginable to hear something like that...
)) Is the kind of dog that will growl and snap at strangers that come into her yard, and she'd be able to scare away any person, its just so weird that they didn't hear anything. (otherwise she is very nice and gets along great with other dogs and people she knows). They would have had to go through Synder to get to Ginger, so they must have came through the front yard. Ginger is VERY freindly, but she's smart enough to know if a stranger walks through the yard then it means trouble, and she would bark at them, but I doubt she would do anything else, unfortunatly. She wouldn't be a very good gaurd dog, LoL. I'm still shaking right now...its just terrible, that stuff is suppost to happen in big cities, not in a place like Kenora, where everybody knows each other. Its really freaky because I've read stories of people stealing dogs and then selling them to animal testing labs
I'm sure you'd have to have a lot of guts to climb a fence with 3 rotties...
