So I rearranged my 10g tank, and have space for a couple of fish. Just wanted to check with you guys that my shortlist are shrimp-safe: I'm planning on either: 2 Sparkling Gouramis or 3 Ottos.

Plus, the ottos should help to cut down on that annoying green spot algae, shouldn't they?

Im not sure but i dont think they are safe with sparkling gouramis. They are safe with ottos though.

Cheers for the reply, man. :)
So are Sparkling Gouramis kinda vicious then? I was under the impression that they'd be ok, since they're only about 2 inches long (I have larger amanos in my tank).
Mind you, I know how vicious dwarf puffers can be, which is why I asked. I guess I might just be safe and go with the ottos...

If you mean pygmy gouramis, those are small enough it should be fine. They might eat shrimplets, but anything besides an Oto could eat a shrimplet.

Ottos are fine, sparkling gouramis are a hit and miss.

Like bettas and most gouramis...the temperament really depends on the individual fish/setting.

Baby shrimp would obviously be eaten though, but I get the impression your not worried about that.

i just witnessed a small tiger barb eat a ghost shrimp...took him 20 minutes to get it down, but he ate it.

I'll go with no when it comes to sparkling gouramis. I added croaking gouramis (larger then sparkling gouramis) and within a day all 12 of my shrimp disappeared.

I wouldn't risk it!!

I have sparkling gouramies in my tank and theyre fine with my amanos :good: They only get to an inch and a half tops so theyre quiete small

Just like to say that the Otos won't help with your green spot algae.

Ive seen Sparkling Gouramis hunting snails and so shrimp would be at risk too. It's a bit hit and miss. You won't know for sure until you try.

Im sure at the early stages of green spot they would work well. Before the green spot gets too hard to remove.
