I just set up my fishroom after a move to a larger apartment. As if I didn't have enough to do the Mother of All Projects, ICEEGRL, sent me a box of plants.

I just put them in a low filtration 20 long with a small cloud of galaxys and panda fry. Some I anchored a bit with a big drift wood and some are floating in a mass of plastic plants and Java moss. Which although it is not pretty is just what my galaxys like. The galaxys are very interested in the additions and the pandas aren't unhappy.

I have taken some quick snaps and will add them soon--if not before, then early Monday morning. I did put a couple of cuttings in the dwarf lucipinnus Syno tank which has planting soil and needs more plants.

ICEEGRL kindly sent me these great additions to my fishroom. I promised her to start this thread so I can get the help I will need along the way and to give her due props for her kindness.

The plants are really in great shape. Mine never look so good.

I just hope they grow and do well. I will have better quality next time. I am working on more variety too.
I am going to a pet shop in the morning. You know I will have to look... :D

Hey Jollysue! Welcome to the Green side. Feel free to ask all the questions you like. My cories love my plants, yours will too. :good:

What did ICEEGRL send you?

Hi lljdma!

water sprite, hydrocotyle leucocephala, rotala rotundifolia, bacopa monniere, Amazon sword, Christmas moss, star grass, bolbitis heudelotii, egeria densa, hygrophila difformis (wisteria), alternanthera reineckii pink (roseafolia), Java ferns

I think I got it all. It will be awhile before I am famiiliar with the classifications or even am able to put these names with the correct plants. They were labeled, but I was more interested in getting them in hospitable accommodations.

I'm a little green though already. The timing for the plants is perfect as I have just put up some new lights and and am replacing old bulbs. The tank that most of them are in for the moment is a 20 long with a 2 bulb 30" T5 strip. There is no algae in that tank at the moment. It is a fairly new tank, with a dozen or so panda juvie fry and a covey of galaxys. It has a small 10- 20 usg Aqua Clear filter for now. So it seemed a good place to put them temporarily. There is only a thin sprinkling of sand at the moment, but I can add some more with some Pure Layerite that I have on hand.

I put the little sprig of bacopa monniere in the BN albino Plec/ dwarf S. lucipinnus tank which has Eco Complete substrate along with a clutch of Elodea densa.

Some of those names seem vaguely familiar to me. ICEEGRL, did you grow yourself enough of my plants, to send some to Jollysue?

Actually, ICG said she was returning some of my Java sword as it had done so well! And indeed, she sent me near perfect plants. Mine all have snail nibbles--if not some algae clumps.

:D
I am glad the timing was good. I felt a little guilty sending them without warning knowing you were so busy. I tried to make them as easy to deal with as possible though.

llj... Yep. The java ferns were some jollysue sent that grew like crazy. A lot of the others were the ones that I got from you. (rotala, bolbitis, moss, star grass, and alternanthera.) They are growing very well. A few I bought from an online store. :D

Finally some pics of the Amanda Plants as promised.

The plants look better in person, and lots are floating , etc., that the pics didn't turn out.

This is the precious "only one stem" that I stuck in the dwarf Syno/albino Plec tank.

A Plec is hiding in this pic, blending into his cave above and to the side of the Amanda plant.

There is a tuft of plants (what I always called anacharas) in the background also from Amanda

This is a different tank. Here is where I dumped and stuck most of the Amanda Plants. Many many are floating at the surface.
But here are the Java fern tucked under a drift wood with another Amanda plant stuck in behind and under the drift wood and the plant Amanda attached to a wood for me beside.

The wood plant with the piece of Amazon Sword--there are some rosy colored plants stuck in there with them now.

The stars of the tank, a Galaxy shoal, are totally delighted.

My favorite shot so far from the just downloaded batch:
