WOW!! Excellent photos, and gorgeous fish!! FOTM for all/any you care to put forward. did i read somewhere you use a Canon 300 digital rebel? Cos I'm about to blow all my holiday money 2 weeks before I go on holiday, to buy myself one, unless I can be very strong and resist....... I keep hoping a better camera will make me a better photographer, but i know it don't work like that.

Dead impressed with the Sev and the Swordtail! Stunning :D

Sarah, before you go all crazy and buy the Drebel, I suggest you check out my site, http://aquatic-photography.com (plug :) ) and read through peoples' questions and answers about aquatic photography in general, camera selection, lighting (the most important aspect of aquatic photography) and other stuff. Photography 101 is the best folder for that stuff. Then make your decision. BTW, make sure you go to www.e-pinions.com to buy the camera, they give you stores w/the lowest price and do reviews on the stores, so choose one w/the lowest price that you TRUST. They even give you a complete shipped price to your zip. That is how I got mine. And DO NOT buy any "Packages" only the basic camera. Dont believe that they are giving you a deal on those, total rip-off.

wow that is a lovely swordtail, and those cichlids are awesome too! As always great pictures!

Do you use a tripod? And how much did your evidently amazing camera cost you?

Ben

hey ben

No, usually handheld, gotta get used to doing it really steady, and breathing correctly, shooting as you breathe out :) :) Tripod is almost impossible unless you are shooting plecos or corals. W/corals it makes it much easier.

The camera was about $800 after shippind and memory. A lot, and you can get away w/a lot less and get great pics. Lighting is the key, that is where the more you spend the better it looks. IT's not a coincidence that reef pics always look great, SW tanks have great lighting :)

awsome pics once again

just wondering, hwo did you get your keyhole to get those awsome colours?(the green edging on the fins and so on) mines just plane baige with the black on them, with a tint of yellow -_-
