Last week I got my Japanese Blue Swoardtail guppies in the mail. I order 3 guppies, so when I opened the bag and saw three bags. I was a little confused. Turns out I also got floating plants, food, and Chinese livebearing snails. All of them are in a 5 gallon for now. The snails will be moved when they're older. The guppies are young but they have been growing fast. My females are getting larger with fry every day. I'm a little nervous about them being pregnant because they're young but I think they'll be okay. They are getting fed 3 different types of flake foods each day. I hope to add some live foods later on.

I'll try to take picture of them tonight and upload them later.

Can you get a pic of the chinese livebearing snails please?

Thanks. Just never heard of or seen them.

Welcome to livebearers Bettacrazy7.
I am sure that you are aware that livebearers are not at all like Betta splendens when it comes to caring for fry or even the adults. Receiving your new adult fish each packaged in its own bag is an indication that the person who shipped them cared about the fish they were shipping. Separate bags for each fish are really not needed in many cases but are a better way to ship than placing all fish together in a single bag. When I go to a local fish club auction, I bag my fish separately for the sale and respect the integrity of those who offer their fish bagged separately. Even though livebearers are easier in a group than Betta splendens, it is still a good idea to place individual fish in their own container when they will be subjected to shipping stresses. After all, the best possible condition is that each fish arrives unmolested by any other fish in the shipment.
Congrats on finding a vendor that was willing to do things right.

Oh, the guppies were all in one bag. The other 2 bags were for the plants and snails.

I've had guppies for about 7 years, and I've only had one female give birth. I finally decided to buy from a breeder. Hopefully I'll get some better results.

If you keep a mixed colony of guppies and have only seen one drop in all that time, you must have a lot of predators in the tank. Guppies are like teenagers, they are constantly on the lookout for a chance to breed.

Guppies were some of my first fish. I kept them at a time when I was young and still learning, so I couldn't keep them alive very long. Then, I had a long period of time that I kept only males (The males were from the only drop). When I did get back into keeping females, my males that were kept alone were strangely uninterested in them. I guess everything that I did lead to non pregnant females. There may have been a few drops in the tank, but none of the females ever looked any smaller to me.

The pictures make them look larger than they really are. My male get sucked into the filter the 2nd day I had him. I didn't think he was small enough to fit throught the filter. Apparently I was wrong. It now has panty hose covering it so it doesn't happen again.

I have a question. I have some Java moss in the tank, and I was wondering how fast it grows. When I lift it out of the tank it's about the size of a golf ball.

It says them photos have been deleted or moved?
So i can't really see them.

My female gave birth last night. I only found 4 fry even with a think covering of floating plants on the top. My adults didn't seem very hungry the next morning...

I'm a little worried about the fry. They haven't eaten. I offer some crushed flakes and they didn't touch them.
