ohhh i mis-read the statement, thanks for clearing that up for me
3 days later fry should be free swimming, it is now time to remove the male or he will eat them.
i thought the dad stayed with the babies as they fall away from the nest and he puts them back??
someone else on TFF bred some bettas, but took the dad out too early according to other members

Yes the dad stays with the fry for three days after they hatch and then he is removed, keeping him with the fry longer than three days can be risky as he may see them as food once they begin to swim horizontally rather than vertically, they are usually no longer dependent on him at this stage so that is correct![]()
i didnt name and shame lol![]()
i was nice!, but i remembered people telling you that the father should have stayed a little longer thats all. to me the statement read differently, and i thought it contradicted what was being said.
obviously its just me having a very dense day![]()
You're not having a dense day, it's people jumping in and saying you should do this and you should do that. It's not that simple sometimes the rules arn't set in stone. You have to adapt to whats going on.

Actually, if I *did* breed bettas (I'm out of money now, sooooo.... Next summer!!!! >You're not having a dense day, it's people jumping in and saying you should do this and you should do that. It's not that simple sometimes the rules arn't set in stone. You have to adapt to whats going on.
couldnt have said it better myself batman!!
my mom wants me to breed my bettas but i dunno where i'd put them all lol![]()

Just remember that vail tail is not really worth breeding unless you ended up with over 600 and could sell them all, they only go for .50 to 1 at lfs and at auctions. If you have stuff like sunsets or dragon species or even the halfmoons its well worth it![]()

I would think so, I just mainly threw some questions out there, and my experience on them. I find experience is alot better than something that was typed out on someones website. The main hunch seems to be this is how you breed bettas now please buy a betta from me. I don't believe in this type of marketing. Thats just my preference. The big speal on how to breed bettas I actually took the time to read what you put down many things to keep in mind yes but its not set in black nor white.
Good example would be the female question I asked, I have had breeds that went bad because the male just eats the eggs and had no choice but to try leaving just the female in to take care of the eggs, and guess what 80% of the time it worked(This is part of the sometimes rules arn't set in stone). I have also come across letting the female out every thing seems okay and then boom she is a total wreck i mean fins damaged to meet the ban wagon(This is also a rule not set in stone). I have had to seperate and stop breedings because of the male all of a sudden turning violent and not even spawn!(This is something not set in stone) My Questions where just put out there as a flag to guide the person not tell them what to do. Everyone has there own methods even top breeders breed all different. I personally think its research and then to the experiment. The research being theory helps the practical being what ends up as practice or experiement. You nailed my question I asked about breeding a vail with a crown I wasn't sure what they made as I have never bred a vail, always been crowntail and up on the line and wasn't even sure how the female looks compared to a delta or a halfmoon female. I got the same thing a copy and paste from a website telling me how I should breed my bettas. The first thing I seen was half the information being misleading. My daughter at the age of 3 bred bettas and sold them to the local fish store. Mind you she had help from daddy but she did most the work her self at the age of 3. Guess what she raised them very very well. I am guessing this person will have help from mommy, this wouldn't be a concern the only concern would be the research.
I have a very open mind when it comes to breeding them, but for some things I close that mind(So certain areas will remain closed, IE always do a cycle of a tank is set in stone)
The Betta breeding would take place in my bedroom, I'd be the one there practically day and night (well except for when I'm in school, but I'm on my computer, just across the room, all the rest of the time, sooooo, yeah; I wouldn't mind supervising a bit more and I could even bring over my chair and laptop and sit and watch the Bettas while typing and stuff
hmm.... let's see.... around twice or maybe even 3 times now I have asked breeding questions & just gotten a copy & paste from a website telling me how to breed them. Sorry person, but it's 'chimney glass' not chimney, and I really think you should clarify that.![]()
I appreciate most of this advice that you (tsi), and other people, give me, but really, I think some of this is just a *bit* extensive. I have a book focusing solely on Bettas and it's like from.... 2005,
This is an extract from my website, a quick guide, please make sure you do your research fully.
you're just really snappy cause you're still upset that your bettas died, aren't you. They were lovely fish & I'm sure you'll miss them terribly.
