Here is a nice little M congicum. As it ages, it will darken, and the bright spots will intensify. It's a starry night gourami - rarely imported and even more rarely bought by hobbyists. It's a Congo region creature - these ones are still young and half or less than adult size. I have a female who has been here for 4 years now, and she is still doing fine.

A guy thinks anabantids and nothing enters his mind but Asia . Africa has equally nice representation. The Microctenopoma cognicum is a choice fish . And the M. aff. nanum is the one with the tiny fry ? Not a bad looking fish . The coloration reminds me of the Thick Lipped Gouramis (Colisa labiosa ?) I once had .
