Hi, im looking to set-up a nano tank, and someone from this forum showed me this item on ebay. My only concern is the lighting...
The make is an aqua gem BT-206, which is apparently T5. The filter, she is unsure of, so id probably get a hagen elite mini, just to further help. Id only really be wanting to keep some mushrooms, and some zoanthids probably too, and maybe some leathers, when i get abit more experiance.
Do you think those lights would be ok to keep what i said above?
Theyre only 6w each, and theres only the two(both which lights), so im abit skeptical...

Thanks, Mikey

Tough to say Mike. If they truly are T5's then yeah it'll probably be enough light for the species you mentioned. The real question is is it the right type of light. You might want to ask her what the color temp of the bulbs are if she knows. Are we dealing with 10000k bulbs or just generic household T5s?

I wouldnt know....She says she kept zoas under it, but i wouldnt know what they are.
Ill ask her, but do you know where that would be written?

Thanks, Mikey

it MIGHT be written on the tubes, but not sure. Either way though, if she kept Zoas under them they'd prolly suffice for what you plan to keep. Zoas are usually slightly larger than and sometimes mistaken for zooanthids. Zoas/palythoas have lines on their stalks extending towards their mouths that are visible when closed. Zooanthids do not have said lines. Some zoos can be larger than palys or vice versa although USUALLY zoas/palys are larger than zoos.

But if she kept zoas, its probably enough light and the right spectrum light to grow zoos, shrooms, and leathers

Well, probably shouldnt of said "zoas", cos her exact words were "polyps and things like that" so i assume shes kept zoas etc...Still though, dont want to buy it and find that i cant have what i want in there....Still looking, anyone got one, or know of one for sale?

Thanks, Mikey

There is a difference between normal t-5 lighting and high output t-5 lighting. It is most likely normal output. You can always upgrade to high output or pc lighting.
