The whole LPS/SPS division is rather arbitrary and based on appearance rather than the physiology of the animal. Whether a coral is classed as LPS or SPS due to polyp size is independent of whether the coral requires light for photosynthesis and how much light (if any) it needs. Off the top of my head I can't think of any NPS SPS, but there are definitely photosynthetic LPS and non-photosynthetic LPS. If I recall right, a Duncan is basically the photosynthetic version of a sun coral.
Also in case there was any puzzlement over "azoox," as the Sorgonian said it is the same as NPS, but just means azooxanthellate (no zooxanthellae algae).
