I have had more success treating sick or injured fish by keeping the water clean, like water changes everyday, than by adding stuff to the tank. Think about it, in nature the fish don't get exposed to formaldehyde, or malachite green, or methylene blue (the main ingredients in many meds). I do use melafix (natural remedy) and salt if required but thats pretty much it. I had a lot of problems when I first had fish from adding stuff to the tank when I didn't know what was wrong with the fish.
