So Happy I Got My Blue Acaras.

As some of you might know I have been wanting these fish for some time now. Well they came I ordered them off www.thatpetplace.com I only ordered 3 to start since I never ordered fish before. Well it was great I ordered them yesterday at 5:00pm and they were at my door at 10:00. They look less stressed them if I had picked them up at the store and drove them home. Great little fish only 2" big I will take some photos once they are settled in. I am going to order maybe 4 more in a few weeks. I'm trying to get a pair that's why I want so many. After I get my pair I will re-home the others. I am afraid I'm going to get attached to all of them. Maybe that can be my excuse for a bigger tank.

I have one question. Is there anyway to sex these guys when they are only 2"? Maybe body shape or something? Any ideas ?

They are adjusting to the temp right now. Then in a few minutes I am going to get them ready with the drip method.

I'm so happy my babies are here. It's like Christmas and I don't have to deal with stupid pet shop workers that don't know anything. I'm a big fan of buying fish off line.

Glad they arrived safely, if you can put up some pics, we could take a guess at their sexes, but at only 2" its gonna be hard to tell.

Yup they are all good. One did have a close call his bag leaked but he is ok. I'm starting to think they only sell male cichlids. All the ones I seem to get are males. My keyhole is a male. My old balloon rams were both males. My new one Bolivian ram looks like it's a male too. These new ones look like they are males. AHHHH.....

baby is asleep and fish are all set. These little guys are doing awesome They all started at each other when I introduced them there was lip locking and pushing. But they are all settled in now. I have 2 that look like definite males.

It's really hard to get a photo of all 3.

Those are my new fish. I am very pleased with them I was so scared they were going to be all messed up and ugly since I was letting some other person pick them out for me and ship them. BUT I think they are great. I am just afraid they are all boys.

they are too small to sex...but dont worry! they grow...REALLY fast

Yep too small to tell, but give it a few months once they have filled out a bit and some side on shots we might be able to tell.

Good few water changes will grow those fins back nicely too.

Yeah that's what I thought. I was hopeing someone knew a little trick. Does the way they act to eachother mean any thing.

sometimes you can tell because they might show their egg tube, if its pointy its a boy and if its rounder its a girl

Im so excited. Im doing what I can to help them grow. Feeding more offten and doing water changes 3 times a week. They are so weird one moment they are chillin together the next they are going at eachother. Then they stop and hang out. I only have 3 right now I'm going to order 3 more once I move these guys into the big tank.that will be fun to have 6 young ones swimming around the 55 gal I can't wait. I will be sad the day they all grow up and I have a pair . Because I will have to find new homes for them. Unless I can get another big tank it would be my acara tank oh what fun.

With this next order I'm tempted to get a dwarf flag chiclid for my 36 gal. That I have a male keyhole and a young male bolvian ram in. Humm they are so cute we will see.

Blast I need more tanks. I found a porter acara now I want one of them. I'm in love with the acaras.

What about the way they are to each other. Just now 2 of them were fighting displaying really showing off some bright colors too . But while the 2 were going at it my other was just watching would get close and check it out. I hope that means I have to males and one female they are fighting over.

What do you think. I will keep watching them. See what happens on man I can't wAit to put them in the big tank.
