Just setup a new tank, 30g. Freshwater. Currently 2 oscars (I know I'm upgrading when they grow). And a snowflake eel.... Now heres where everything gets weird. I bought him from a petstore and he was in a freshwater tank. So me not really thinking bought him, came home did research found more saltwater snowflakes, and then brackish snowflakes, then really any freshwater,,, so I think they were keeping him wrong, Anyway, I called them and told them what I had found and they told me to just add aquarium salt. so i put in 1tbsp / 5 gallons, so 6 total. And I've had him for the past few days ,,, 2 -3 and hes still just hanging out in this log he has, and he pokes his head out , and swims like crazy at night when i turn the light off.... I was wondering if this is ok ... but I HAVENT seen him eat. So I don;t know how to get him to eat so far I have a dozen rosies in there but my little oscars are eating them all.... I can; tell if hes eating any of them or not? any help would be awesome... thanks

snowflake eels should be in a marine tank - to feed him try dropping bits of mussel near him or better use feeding sticks to offer him food

they can go a long time without eating so don't panic

are you sure it is a snowflake - can u post a picture?

That is the best I could do, my cameras at a buddy's so this is off of my phone ,,,, gives u the rough pattern enough I hope.... and since he hides I couldn't really get the greatest angle. But I hope this helps.

Well doesn't look like a snowflake

There's no way that's a snowflake i have a snowflake eel in my 125g and if it is a snowflake there supposed to be in 75g tanks minium. I feed my directly and with krill, mysis shrimp, shrimp, and squid

its the brackish snowflake. something Tile. I have two about 15 inch long in bracksih water

I'll try post link of my old thread which was answered expertly by NMONKS AND CFC

Get it in Brackish water otherwise it will suffer and die and mine are the hungriest fish I've got and snap hand off for lance fish
