Hi.
Nelly has pretty much said everything I would say.
Sounds like swim bladder problems?

And yes Stewartii need to be no higher than 22c in the summertime.
Used to keep mine at 18c all year round. (rose a little in summer months but maybe only a couple of degrees.

thanks for all your help but i lost him last night
rang the shop this morning and spoke to the manager he told me to bring it back with a water sample

so done that and all was fine, when i got there they had a fresh delivery of snakeheads there only about 3" and look alot better than my one ever did also he offered me 2 as i had had the problems :)

so now i have these 2 little snakeheads lost in a 5 foot tank

can i ask you guys what and how you feed yours, they look to small for the muscles i was feeding the last one
and i dont want to put to much cos i wont find what they dont eat, should i take some of the plants and bog wood out of one end and just try and feed them there?

do you think they would take food of feeding tongs like i do with my lion fish?

thanks again

dan

Hello Dan, so sorry to hear the news.....As to you new guests...Do you know what ones you got this time? reason is shops get alot of channa micropletes. name sounds small, however the actually giant snakeheads....or were they the same? piccys would be very welcome.,
as to feeding, bloodworm, chopped earthworm / frozen prawns?<cheap ones from tesco/asda etc all good, pellets like hilraki and earthworm pellets of ebay, chop up the mussles very small, i would reccomend getting all this stuff and feed different days different things, do not need to feed every day, a sparadic feeding regime is fine, as to plants, nope the more the better, hehe just have a little area clear if food falls to floor.

took a few before i let them go as not seen them since lol

ment to be the same ones but look a lot nicer to me

Yeah you could afford too....Oh i would say, ensure you tank has no possible way of something getting out, even cut out where cables and filter tubes go, cover them, channa are escape artists, seriously amazing at it too, my friend had a lfs,he had some of my babies,in a tank with a glass cover all across, minutest hole at top, obviously thats where they got out, three of em...

ok should not have left it till tomorrow got up this morning to 2 dried out fish on the floor :(

i think somthings telling me not to keep snakeheads :(

Oh pantz, sorry to hear that buddy, yeah ensure you channa proof tank, Iam sooo sorry i did not mention before, a good thing that can help abit, is duckweed, easy to get hold of, grows like a rash, get a covering of that, gives them the sense of security, but keep removing some every so often so it does not overgrown and get out of control....

Did you make sure they were dead? Just think i shall say it all now, channa have the ability to stay alive out of water, sometimes depending on where they are a good day atleast, one of mine got out when i first got them, obviously over night, thought it were dead, just about to bin it, when it opened its mouth, put it back in tank, none the worse for its ordeal, if i think of any other issues i will warn you.....

i had read that they can live out of water for a bit and when my wife told me i told her to put them back in the water to see
but no joy :(

the lfs has now sold all of them and are not getting any more :(

so now im looking for something else to put in, was thinking about rays but not to sure my lfs has a trio for £260 not sure if thats a good price?

or i might just leave it and see what else i can find

again thanks for all your help its a shame it wasnt ment to be

No mate, rays need big tank, the smallest ray you going to need a 7foot tank really, where are you located in the UK? will check my some people i know, also search around abit for you, people deliver in the uk,,,
