can anyone help me with what type of snakehead this is. what size it gets to etc etc..

thanks ppl

hardto see cos the light is shining of it

There are a few of us Snakehead freaks on here to help you ID, but as said you are gonna need a better pic.
Try lights off / dimmed or take a pic when he is near the bottom of the tank.

Also, a description might help. (body color/s, fin color/s, markings / patterns etc)
What was it sold to you as?

the man just said it was a snakehead. just tryed to take another pic but he sawm off lol. he has a light almost white belly. with a light brownish color top half with clear fins but has a brown color strip on every other fin bone if that makes sense

hardto see cos the light is shining of it

sorry.. my mum is on holiday with the camera so i am stuck using my phone camera!!! sucks

yep it looks like its a Channa melasoma to me.. cheers nelly.

is this a dwarf channa?

i think you could be on the right lines neil, i was tempted to say marulius as in 1 pic i saw there was some resemblance. we do need a better pic and mabe time for it to settle in properly and mabe take on some color??

the lighting in this tank is terrible. i have a mate in the lfs and he said he was gona fix it for me. he also sold me my arowana for 5 pound ;) they were up for 20 in the shop. i cant put the snake in my bigger tank becuase the oscars see him as lunch, maybe will see his colors when the lighting is fixed

yes much as dave said, these fish take on a different form once they start to mature, my ornatipinnis babie's were jet black with a gold stripe, now there what you see in my avitar picture, stress and tank layout also changes there colour's, the melasoma get to around 12-14inches so ive heard, um 5pounds for your aro,wow bargain<wait for mixmaster jay to see the price :shifty: > in my lfs a 4inch silver aro costs 99 pounds,

lol thats crazy price. 5pound lol and he is about 4-5 inch. i get all my fish cheap. where are u from?

last time i went to bas they had a tank of silver aro's, about 8 of them for £45 each and they was a good 10 inch! i was tempted but not until i get the big tank and id prefer an asian aro, good pic up though mate thats the cheapest i've heard of one going for!
good luck with both the fish they are both equally impressive fish. get back to us when you find out exactly what channa it is and more pics when it settles in and just keep us updated!!
