My new aquarium is up and running as had it for about three months. I seem to have around 10 resident snails in there that I presume hitched a ride in as eggs on some plants. Are they of any harm to the aquarium or are they just best left to there own devices ? I dont mind them and im sure the fish dont. Thanks in advance.

Do snails pose any problems in an aquarium or are they just best left to get on with things ?

Depends on the kinds of snail. Pond snails should be picked out as they eat plants, but ramshorn, nerite, MTS, and apple/mystery snails are beneficial as long as you don't overfeed, as they will soon take over your tank if you do.
