Snails

i have 2 yellow snails and noticed today that one of the shells was sitting door up in the middle of my tank. after looking closer i discovered that the shell was empty so i removed it and tossed it out. a few hours later in noticed my other snail moving funny and after looking closer relised that there were actually 2 snails sharing a shell. i recovered the empty shell rinsed it very carefully and put in the tank in front of the other snails path. the sanils climbed all over it but the one would not enter any suggestions please.

this is quite odd? has the other snail gone back into its own shell,i am no snail exspert but they could have been mateing

I would leave the other shell in the tank.
They are probably mating and eventually the other one
will go back to it's shell
