I know it is common for tiny snails to hitch rides on plants from the LFS. Well, they did it to me too. I have counted up to 5 little tiny snails in my 10 gal. I think they are multiplying.

I don't mind having them in there, but is it a problem for my fish or will it become a problem if they keep multiplying?

For the fish you have and if it's the 10gal, you will have a major problem soon. Take them out by hand as you find them. Their egg sacs will be clearish/white rubbery spots on the walls and other object surfaces. remove those too.

well for me really snails shouldnt be a problem because they are a natural part of the underwater ecosystem, just make sure that you dont overfeed your fish so they dont breed like crazy, and pick em out when u see em, chances are when you see a few big snails there are a lot more small snails coming soon. somebody correct me if im wrong :)

I make sure all plants are thoroughly washed and inspected now before they go in the tank.

I have numerous tiny ones I'm not sure where they came from. No plants are in the tank so they didn't hitch a ride and the only snails I added that could breed were MTS and these are clearly not MTS. I don't mind them though, once they're larger, they're going into another tank.

Pond snails are good for tanks. And if you get 1000's of them your over feeding. Pond snails will grow to the amount of food they have. I et them like crazy in my fry tanks, but in my 20g and 55g I have very few. And when there is no fry in the fry tanks if I don't tear them down with in a week all the snails crawle out of the tank and die on the floor can be messy. But if there is no food they don't stick around.

So because you had a problem with population, no one should want snails? It's hard to tell when people are joking around here since some seriously take that kind of hardline approach.

Be my guest, Go ahead, Keep your snails aint effecting me in what so ever.

That post was not directed at YOU at all... i dont even know why you commented on it. Vulcan asked "Ok, what kind of problem will they be?"
I showed him what the problem will be.

I dont wanna start anything at all... i just dont find the point to what you said, but if u wanted me to explain better of what i ment I did.
I aint gonna turn this guys thread into a debate. If you wanna make a deal of it, PM me.

Your comment was implied at anyone who kept snails, and that snails are a problem because they can't be controlled, which is completely and utterly false.

dont worry just for the likes of you i changed my wording on who it was directed to. I agree i said fellas, wrong use of words. But was trying to help this guy out to what problem he is up agaist.

I say we build a bridge?

I'm just moody about people insulting snails. :p Nothing personal or anything. It's fine how it is now. :) All is good here.
