I have done a search of the archives and not really found what im looking for...anyone on here have a proven method of snail breeding? could you please pm me, or pm a link to a thread i may have missed?

What snails? For what end?

Malayan livebearing snails are by far the easiest to breed, but some people hesitate about feeding them to pufferfish (though I will say my Colomesus seems to have no trouble with juveniles, and ignores the adults).

Apple snails are easy, too; the mistake people make is usually to mix them with fish and keep them in overheated aquaria. They do best at subtropical temperatures fed on nothing more than vegetable scraps and the odd catfish pellet. The eggs are laid above the water line. I raised the babies in large glass jars.

As for the other kinds, outdoor ponds seem to work best. I keep a wooden half-barrel in the garden with a few pond plants and a bit of sand in. No filtration of any kind. It's an easy place to raise snails and Daphnia (which I use for halfbeak fry).

Cheers,

Neale

If you are looking for a brackish snail to breed then you are in the right forum, but if you are not try posting in the invertebrates, amphibians & aquatic reptiles forum. You will probably have better success there.

Im looking for snails to feed my puffer, not necessarly to live and breed in the display tank. I have been trying to breed them in a unheated goldfish tank. Average temp is just room temp, mid to upper 60's. i over feed, and put bits of veggies in.

What species of snail are you trying to breed? I think I can dig up some good links.

basicly pest snails, although Im willing to shell out some cash to get something that will multiply.
