Snails Came In On Plants

sorry to jump in on this thread, I got malaysian trumpet snails, started with 10, and when i first got them i end up with a population explosion and realised I was over feeding my fish. I had only had my tanks a few months so have since got to know how much to feed my fish and the population has gone down, although I still got quite a few, which I like but no where near the amount I had.

I Had so many, I was selling them on ebay and they were going like hot cakes.

But reason for jumping in on the thread, people call them pests, whats the downside to having snails, to me they sift my sand a little, eat any food the fish do leave, (although not much lately as learned how much to feed). just looking for what the downsides are?

Just pick them out squish them and drop them back in! your fish will fight over them and its free fish food!

+1 for squishing them. The odd one does you a favour as suggestted by having a clean up but when they get too much squishing them is the easiest answer. The fish will love you for it. My guppies will fight over a squished snail
