for aslong as i can remember ive had tiny snails invading my tank, they came in on the plants and decided to stay  however since i got a pair of blue rams all the snails have dissapeared and ive found empty shells scattered around the bottom. ive googled but not found anything about them eating snails and wondered if anyone has any experience of this. i'm not fussed about them eating them, if anything im grateful as i didnt have the heart to kill them by squashing and just ended up syphoning as many out as possible, but snails being snails they seemed to mutiply as fast as i removed them, so getting rid of them a natural way is a bit of a blessing :)

p.s. I didnt know whether to post this here or in the new world section so apologies if its in the wrong place :)

My rams peck at snails and have occasionally managed to tackle a ramshorn, but they don't seem very efficient at it (at least not compared to my yo-yo loaches).

What other fish do you have in your tank?

Have you lowered your pH for the rams by any chance?

hmm that is odd... Generally Rams are pretty poor at killing off large snail populations... Do you have any loaches or Botais in the tank??

i have the rams harlequin rasboras guppys and corys. i have seen the rams pick up the snails then spit them out again but not actually seen one eating them. i didnt lower my ph for the rams as it was already 6.7. its all very strange, but im not complaining lol :)
