Snails Arrived Through The Post...............

I've bought snails via the net in the past, as soon as i put them in the tank and they started mooching around on their own straight away.

Now, i've just received a new batch and they're sat dormant at present after half an hour or so.

Has anyone had any experience of them taking a while to perk up?

They're Malaysian Trumpet snails by the way.

the first batch i got died as soon as i put them in my tank, second lot are thriving, hopefully you didnt pay over the odds as there are people on here will send you a heap for just the cost of postage

Oh, that's good to know for future reference. They were only 99p for 12 so they're not gonna break the bank.

oh cool. My MTS took only a few minutes to fully come out of there shells and explore!

Flea Bay. I've had apple snails off there before with no problems, but 99p isn't too much of a risk.

I keep pet Giant African Snails as well as water ones so I know about their habits. If snails are subjected to adverse conditions (too cold, dry, etc) they seal themselves into their shells with a "lid". Your MTS may have done that -mine did when I got them in the post. Just put snails in a cup of warm water and most will revive after 30mins, a few may take more warm water and a little onger. Snails are hardy and can survive for weeks without food so dan't worry 99% of snails survive posting
