found this snail in my tank before and not sure what it is as I've never had one in my tank before. So what is it? and should I leave it in our take it out? as I have live plants and algea which I'am letting grow for my bristlnose when I get one in.

It's a tadpole, or bladder snail Physa Acuta. They can breed quite quickly and are classed as a 'pest' snail, so you might want to take it out, but it'll probably have already laid eggs.

Ok it's gone have to keep my eye out but I thought it was a pond snail as it looked the exact same as the pond snail on this website http://www.planetinverts.com/pond_snail.html had the same shell and those spikey things on the last pic at the bottom.

Yes, they do live in ponds too.

I've just put it in my 5gal tank that I stopped using the other week, it has lots of algea in it for it to eat also I read that you can feed fish its eggs is that true? ifso when I see them I will pop them in for my tetras otherwise i'll just chuck it in next doors old pond

I don't think many fish eat snail eggs. I wouldn't chuck it in the pond, though; you don't want escaping into the wild somehow. Just squish it if you don't want it. The fish will eat crushed snail quite happily!

+1, dont throw it in the pond, it ould well of hitchiked from the amozon or wherever your plants where grown so would be an alien species in our country. Just squash it & put it back in the tank.

Black phantom tetras will eat the eggs of this snail - IF they spot them, which is doubtful. The amount they find will probably be a very small fraction of the total so probably makes little to no impact. It's easier to spot them yourself on the undersides of leaves etc. and try and scrape them off (which is harder than you think).
