Snail Photographs

Glad you sorted them, they look lovely. Do you leave the water level a bit lower so that they can lay eggs? Does this encourage egg-laying?

It should encorage egg laying because the snails realise that there is space there. The snails wont lay, wont lay many eggs or the eggs will fall in the water as the snail brushes against them if the water level is too high. Twice the snails height in space is a good idea.

nice collection of snails

instead of using the link when your on your photobucket select these pictures (by marking them with the tick on your home page bit) and then go to bottom and click copy img link then it wil come to new page then copy the img links in one go,then paste ontoyour forum in a new reply or an edit of you 1st post and ur pics will come onto the forum without having to click on the link every time

i think this is right ..

Yeh, they were working fine before I moved them into a folder, then it changed everything. When I reposted them I had a thick moment and forgot to use the Insert Image tool. Not my finest moment. Ive just made a Canas apple snail care guide in the index, look on that for pics of a different sp..

Here are some more pics of different snails in the tank.

This post has made me want some apple snails! Should they be kept on their own or can they be mixed in a community tank? I figured the latter, but would like your opinion. :good:

Good to know ive nearly converted someone!
It really depends on what snails your getting and what fish they are with. Currently, I have the brigs in a species tank, the Canas and Columbian in a oddball community with Parkinsonii ranbowfish, zebra spiny eels, Lepthoplosternum altamazonica and Callichthys callichthys, and Spixis with other snails and cherry barbs.

What species would you be getting and what fish would you keep them with?

I was thinking about the common "Mystery" (Are these brigs?) snails. I have been reading some information on applesnail.net, but I'm not great with identification. I hope that gives you a general idea.

I was planning on putting them in a 55gl with a Cleithracara maronii , 4 (adding more in the future) Dianema urostriata, Garra taeniata , and a bristle nose pleco. I will probably add more fish of different species in the future, but as of now, that is the final list.
