Snail Murdered Young?

I have an Apple Snail, can't remember what type. Not a Mystery like I thought though, apparently She laid eggs (In which I also thought she was a boy...) and they have been there for about a week. I looked in after tonight and they were gone off the top of the tank and at the bottom of it! They were to far gone for me to save them, they already were turning white again. Did she go up and push them off or something? Cause she laid another sack or eggs. It pains me to realize that there were live, growing things in there and I couldn't save them in time. Did they just fall off? It didn't seem likely...

Do you have only one snail? If so you can't get any babies as apple snails aren't hermaphrodite (like many other snails).

Yes, I know..

I had two, one died.
Plus I was told they can hold sperm for a few months.
She laid eggs a few months later.
