Hi all
You all might have read in previous topics that I was going to try for my second spawn.
Well, the 2 of them have been conditioned for 2 weeks so Friday they were moved to their spawning tank.

Smudge went in first and then 1/2 hour later I added Snorkel in her 'bottle'.

As soon as she was added Smudge started to build his nest. By the morning his nest was nice and big and Snorkel looked very keen so Saturday afternoon I realised her.

Things went really well and no fighting.
Within 10 minutes they were 'attempting' to wrap, snorkel couldn't get the hang of it and kept swimming away, they eventually got there and began wrapping correctly but no eggs were being realised.
I left the house at this point for about 45minutes and left them too it, when I came back Smudge was chasing her away and being violent so I removed her. He stayed guarding his nest but I couldn't see no eggs and where he built it made it more awkward for me to see :(
I didn't think there were eggs there and when I checked on him this morning there are no little bettas hanging from the nest :(

Ill retry them in a few days NO NEED. THE EGGS HATCHED 17/10/2011 :yahoo:

Hope they're all doing well today Vicki,- with lots of teeny tiny little tails on show! How does the spawning compare in size with last time?
:- :- :-

Smudge is being a great daddy, keeping the flighty little fries in the nest :)

From what I can see there is about 50??
Smaller than my last spawn (thankfully)

They should be free swimming in a day or 2 then Smudge can be removed and its down to me :D

Great number Vicki! Hope you get more girls this time though as they were really in demand with your last batch! :D

Well done Smudge,- you clever boy!
