Smelly Water

Hi my names Phil I've a bit of a problem with smelly water when you enter the house the stench is horrible I've tried 25% and 50% water changes the last couple of days but it's been no help i've had this problem in the past but it's sorted itself out but this time the smell seems a lot stronger whats causing it and how can I deal with it, the tanks are ell established. Can anyone help. PLEASE.

DEFINE SMELL ?? As in a drain like horrible smell ?? tbh my water has a faint odour to it very earthy kinda smell my fish are as happy as larry in ther some been in for 3 yrs +(obviously water has been changed ) but always seems to have a faint odour.IMO unless your fish are getting ill and or dieing off or the smell really is unbearable i personally wouldnt worry.

carbon (in a teabag type thing) or a carbon pad in the filter is suppsoed to reduce nasty smells... Both my canisters have carbon and the water dosn't smell at all...

new tankks can smell a bit have u checked for dead vegetation and do u remove all dederis of the substrate
