I posted a few weeks ago about my Rams spawning. Well, the eggs hatched, only to be eaten several days later by my seven serpae tetras. I can only assume it was them, because they're evil bothersome fish.

Well, my serpaes are out of the tank for a while, keeping my cycled 75g cycled until we get some cichlids in it. So what do we find tonight? A bunch of eggs from our fertile little Bolivian Rams. Did they realize the tetras were gone and it was a good time to spawn? Probably not, but it's certainly a nice coincidence :)

the tetras could have stressed the rams, causing them to eat there eggs... it can happen sometimes i guess

All cichlids are indeed very intelligent-they can even be taught tricks!

So never underestimate the brain power of a ram :sly:

Quick little update... The eggs have hatched and the babies are currently in a little nest that the parents dug in the gravel for them. There's lots of movement down there, but they're so little it's impossible to tell how many there are. We got to this point last time, so lets hope we actually see some free swimming fish this time! :)

Free swimming! Kinda... They're out of the nest, still spend a lot of time in the gravel, but it's more a swarm of babies, because they're all swimming around the parents now. Speaking of the parents, they're still very protective and doing a good job. This is all so exciting :) Now, what do I feed them?
