Small Planted Tank

not sure how much the PC are. never looked at the price of them yet. but if your going with a Interpet T5 Compact 36w it looks like you will need to add co2. if you dont want to go with co2 maybe you should just use what i am going to use 2 T8s.

well my current hood only allows for one bulb. are T8's the 1" size?
mine is also 15w and 45cm. it has two 'prongs' on one end, is this the standard connection?

yes T8's the 1" size. what kind of hood do you have ?

perhaps i worded that wrong, the hood can probably fit more lights but i only have one light fitting in it at the moment.
its a standard tetra hood 30cm x 60cm

no i dont think so, i got it second hand, its quite old.

can i put a higher wattage lamp in it to replace the broken 15w?

i dont think so. the starter will be only be ment to run a 15w tube. why not just buy a normal 15w starter and run another tube from it. can u put the starter outside of the tank ?

ye thats an option. because this old one is grubby i was thinking of getting a double unit

That would work. just hang the starter on the wall or somewhere like that

turns out i just replaced the single lamp with another 15w one. i know this is low light levels and am looking to increase on the cheap!
