Hi, I am setting up new 55usg brackish tank and it is showing 0.25ppm ammonia. I usually seed my own tanks which is what I was planning on doing here! I was going to move the fish over with my ancient fluval 4 but when I tested to day I saw the ammonia, I know where it is coming from,the ocean rock in there. I knew I would get a spike from it and have had the tank running for a week and doing water changes.
So my question is....
If I put the Fluval in and run it for 24hours will it take the ammonia down sufficiently for the fish to go in or not? This would mean my old brackish tank running for the said 24 hours without a filter [I do have a power head or two I can run].
I know you'll all probably scream 'no' at me but not sure what else I can do....the other problematic bit being big water changes are now hard as the sp is right and I have no where big enough to keep mixing the water!
Arghhhhhhhhh.....and don't even get me started on forgetting the backing to the tank....I was having bad day
