Sleeping Loaches

I have heard that kuhli loaches will lie on the substrate on there side if there are not enough hiding places, but as your fish only do this when they are resting and by the sound of it you have lots of hiding places I would say this is not the reason why they do it lol. Maybe its a way of deterring other fish from eating them by "playing dead" whilst resting

as said its quite normal for clowns and some other loaches to do this.
i had a male BN that used to 'let go' of the wood and sleep on his back, i about died first time i saw him

I have 2 clown loaches, they have to be my fav fish and mine sleep on there side and i have cave that i made and they both sleep on there sides together on a ledge of the cave!! they are very funny

I wonder why mine took so long to start the habit... I've never seen them sleep like that in the past! Usually they hide whenever I'm in the room, but lately they've been out and about in the tank. It took them long enough to get used to me! I suppose it's better late than never
