Size of spawning area

I will soon purchase butterfly cichlids, Anomalochromis thomasi, for my 60 gallon tank. This species deposits eggs on flat surfaces. I plan on placing pieces of slate for this purpose. Approximately what should be the surface area of the slate for egg deposition? Thank you.

3-4 inches diameter is all they need

A good starting point would be around 10-15 square inches per potential spawning pair, divided in multiple 5-7 square inches places per "territories" with a couple larger sites to test if they prefer that. Maintaining at least 2 possible sites per pair.
