Has anyone had problems with their six line wrasse attacking snails, hermits shrimp etc? I added some new critters to the tank and the wrasse went crazy  within minutes it had my new peppermint shrimp in his mouth & kept picking at the snails?

Thanks!!

i have a sixline, and he doesnt bother my snails or hermits, but when i did have some peppermint shrimp to get rid of my aptasia, he got 2 of them. i have a pom pom crab in there now, but he holds his own and the sixline hasnt bothered him since.

I guess this is a common problem with smaller wrasses. They tend to "explore" new invert additions with their beaks, ESPECIALLY if they're hungry. My solorensis attacked the peppermint shrimp I added and I'm pretty sure did him in (havent seen him since he got away and darted in the rockwork). If you've got a mischievous wrasse like this, try feeding, shutting the lights off, and then adding the invert.

Thanks for the replies! I feed him every other day so he is quite well fed, I also think he may have eaten my cleaner shrimp as he was only small. Ski when the inverts were added the lights were off he just chased the peppermint shrimp out of the rockwork. The peppermint shrimp is living in the sump at the moment where he seems to be happy! I thought he died but he just shedded his skin
