Well, after being sold this lovely creature on good authority...and then finding out that he really ought to be part of a group and will also grow rather large, I had come to a seamingly sensible conclusion to rehome him.

However, after a few days of looking at his own reflection, and probably looking for some chums, he has really perked up and become buddies with the group of tiger barbs, they all hang out together and seem to play and really like each other.

I have a 200l tank, I guess I just want some opinions as to whether to rehome him or keep him ? I want the ebst for him but he really does seem very settled and happy.

you could get it a couple more friends and save up for a bigger tank sometime in the future. Or you could just get a group of them and when they are too big for the current tank, take them to a petshop and trade them in for some other fish.

They really do like to be in groups of 6 or more, and they will get to around 14 inches, so a 200 litre is definitely not big enough to keep him long-term.

You could buy more sharks and re-home them later when they get too big, but its not really good practice. Many fish are difficult to re-home when they are big and end up being dumped by their owners or just ignored.

If you are sure you can re-home them or re-accomodate them into a bigger tank in the future, by all means, but the proper and best way to do it is to get a tank which is suitable for them long-term, then get the fish.

Good luck with your decision! :good:

BTT
