Silver Guppy tail ragged

Right i'm still losing fish my silver guppy has died, and one of my queen loaches has already died and the other two are infected, my blue guppy and the two loaches are now in an isolation tank, i'm going to try double dosing with a product called esha.

I asked my vet for Mycin but to no avail, so i'm getting a friend of mine to ship it in from the states. I would like to get antibiotics from this country, but why should a vet charge £70, when Fish Mycin will treat it.

Fish Mycin

I have a question would you take the filter out and just have an air stone running, and do water changes every day, when treating with antibiotics. I feel that is the right thing to do as my reasoning is that antibiotics will kill the filter.

On a good note my two remaing female platies are i think turning the corner, their alone in my planted 18 uk gallon and are having babies. :p

The rest of my fish in my main tank also look fine including the still 9 golden twin bar plattie fry.

Will you be able to keep your filter running somewhere, if you are going to use strong antibiotics it will wipe the bacteria colony out in your filter.

I'll just clone the filter again from my main tank, i've just lost another loach and i think the other loach and blue guppy will be dead by morning, i'm checking ammonia and nitrites twice a day on my quarantine tank, both are 0 ppm.

Question will my main tank carry this bacteria for ever now, i'd like to think at some point in the future to own queen loaches again.

Its a funny thing life as i did manage to rescue 3 platie fry from my filter in my second tank today, i've put a stocking over to help stop them going in there, as i'm giving them free range of the 18 gallon tank, plenty of plants to hide in and around.

You have a bad infection in that tank, you are going to have to treat with an antibiotic, i would put the filter in another tank to keep your bacteria colony going.

Well it's still going on, i just lost a black and white guppy today and one of my cardinals has a swim bladder problem i know this can be bacterial as well.

All i can do is wait for the antibiotics to come and then treat the whole main tank and of course i'll pull both filters out i have running in there and do small water changes every day instead.

Nitrite 0 ppm, Ammonia 0 ppm so this i also know has never been a water quality issue.

I did look round locally in the fish shops and i did see quite a few sick red tux platies about, in fact there aren't many guppies or platies around in my local fish shops.

Only way you will get a stronger med like an antibiotic is through a vet, plenty of water changes, and anti internal bacteria med by interpet, good luck.
