hi,

this may sound like a really daft question and i apologise for my little knowledge (im very new to all this!!) but do all fish breed live fish or do they lay eggs or something?? is it just certain breeds that have live fish births and others lay eggs?

my boyfriends mollys have just had about 13 little babies but i wondered if she gave bith to them or wether they come from eggs etc... is she likely to have some more babies? i've heard that once preganent, they can hold sperm for months and have about 7 pregnancies.. yuks!!

please can someone clear up my daft question!!

thanks

Mollies are indeed livebearers but not all fish are! The majority of fish actually lay eggs! Mollies, guppies and platies are the most common livebearers and will breed literally like rabbits! It is very likely that in the next few months she will have more babies (I'm not sure how long a mollies gestation period is!

thank you for that... i have actually just found a articale on here from 'william' about livebearers and fry, so i have read that and its given me a clearer understanding...

thanks for your help..

Laura
