Silly Question ... Why Is My Tank Getting Cloudy?

Tap water is 6.8

Just got home and tested the waters ph! It's 6.0!!! What do I do!?!?

Are you using wood (or possibly bogwood) to decorate the fish tank? It lowers the pH. The bigger the wood chunk, the faster the pH drops. Learned it from 1st hand experience.

No wood. One stone ... Bunch of plants. Castle, turtle, gargoyle and ceramic aquarium toys.

Ph 6.0
Ammonia nitrate and nitrite 0

two African cichlids dead! :-(

But aquarium is no longer cloudy.

I did a water change 25% ish. I added ph tablets ... Water is clear. I had Lfs test water and they got the same readings. The guy suggested that maybe because I put all new gravel in the bottom of the tank I may have not yet built up bacteria and maybe that is throwing the numbers.

I need to raise the ph. He said to add pourous rocks once it's stabilize and suggested ph tablets to boost since it's so low! He advised against ph up drops.

So I did a water change and used the tablets. We will see tomorrow's test.

Today all the results were the same.
