So these guys are in my QT and have been hangin out for 3 weeks and a day. Today I saw the red female with a long white stringy thing hanging out from her booty.
Today as I was doing my weekly wc, I saw a couple of what appears to be stringy/wormy kinda thing in the substrate.:sick:
I have attached a few pics. Also, can someone tell me what the other female has around her black markings? They haven't changed since I got her but still weird.
My questions:
Do both of the females have a condition that needs to be treated? If so, can someone please educate me on this? I have never treated fish with medicine (except my Oscars for Ich back in the day).
Thank y'all for your time and expertise!!😊

Hmm. The white around the pigment is probably just colouration.

The white thing could be poop, but it's hard to tell. You're in the US, so I would pick up a product called prazi-pro and follow the instructions. Your tank will not be messed up by it, and it'll eliminate tapeworms if they are present. The fish don't look like they have worms, but beyond the small hit to the wallet, prazi will do no harm and maybe some good.

Nice platys.

Thank you!! :thanks:

If they are eating well and have had the stringy with poop for several weeks, then it is likely intestinal worms (tape worms). Prazi pro does treat it. It’s a common issue with livebearers and I’m going through the same thing as I’m treating my mollies with flubenzadole.

Thank you for the info! They have been in the QT for 3 weeks and 3 days. I have actually only seen her with stringy poo once or twice in the past couple days. The other 2 seem to be fine.
I'm just going to let them hang out in the QT until I finish swapping out the substrate of my 75g.
