Good day everyone.

Im new to the board and this is my first post. I have a 50 gallon tank with (1) Dwarf Gourami, (3) Red wag platies, (6) zebra danios, and (6) neon tetras. The tank was fully cycled and has been running for months with no problems until 3 days ago. I recently added the dwarf gourami (no iso. tank here..went right in..I know I know :) ) Anyways, shortly after i noticed some ich on my platies. I checked the water parameters and they were all in line: 0 ammonia; 0 nitrites, 20 ppm nitrates. I did a 25% water change and began treating the ich with maracide (on day 3 of 5). So far so good until this morning when I see that my Gourami has developed a rather large white discoloration adjacent to his tail fin. I have seen no rubbing behavior from him. Hes been in the tank for 5 days now. It does not appear to be fuzzy like a fungal infection and doesnt appear to be ich either? Ive searched around the net this morning and have found nothing like it. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be. I have attached a photo ( its a little outta focus but shows the discoloration well. Any help or advice on reputable links to check out? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Cheers

Well that was QUICK!!! It went from a small spot to covering half of his body in no time flat.. He floated down to the rocks on his side. Unfortunately he did not make it. Any ideas on what this may have been? The only thing I can think of is that I have very hard water..300ppm. I acclimated him for over an hour before putting him in the tank, but maybe the water parameters where I live are just toom much for a gourami.

Ther is a thing called Dwarf gourami disease and it looks like grey slime then gets all lumpy and is really common in this breed I have lost several to it. Look it up on the practicalfishkeeping website. Gives lots of info maybe what your guy had. :(
