One of my gouramis has always been pretty thin and stunted looking. I've had him 2 weeks now, and one of my others died after haemmorhaging from an ulcer. Another has an ulcer too, being treated and seems OK. This one seems ill though, but no obvious visible signs of illness. He hides in a corner and stays still all day. Today, he is sitting on top of the filter and staying at the surface. He is barely moving, even when I put my hand in the water near him he hardly moves. What could this be? Do I put him out of his misery? Or is there a med I can try? The tank is currently being treated with interpet anti internal bacteria meds for the other fishes ulcer. I have no spare tank to move this one to.

Sorry... I was in a hurry before and have been out to the LFS to see what meds I could find. Could only come up with a tonic for lethargy... :S but too late. I got home to find he had died. :( This leaves me with 1 dwarf gourmai with an ulcer. My water params are all spot on, pH is around 6.6. The remaining fish looks healthy apart from his ulcer, which is dark red with a thin white edging. No other discolouration. fish is swimming around happily and eating. Not hiding, not flicking or rubbing. All seems fine apart from the sore ulcer. I hope this one pulls through :( I am using anti internal bacteria meds for him, don't seem to be making any difference. did a water change 25% a few days ago when the first gourami died, and did another 25% just now. Water has an air stone in it. Filter is cycled. Temp is 78. Any ideas on how to save this little fella?

Hmm, it's a possibility that today's casualty had fish TB. Dunno about the remaining gourami though, he is a normal shape....

The only way to know if your fish have tb is to take a dead fish to the vets to do tests.
